| Field notes | Plant 0.5-1.5 m tall. Seldom full grown. The first joint up to 50 cm long, the other candelabrum-shaped, 10-20 cm long. Spines 3-6, up to 3 cm long. Leaves 0.5 cm long. Flowers reddish, some lighter inside. Fruit oblong, spiny with 4-6 spines which pointing up along, as it ripes it becomes spineless and brown. |
