| Field notes | Plant 1-1.5 m tall (in dense scrub until 4 m, on the dry sun exposed hill sides it hardly grows up to more than 80 cm). Joints 20-40 cm long. Spines 4-6, often 1-3 longer ones (3-5 cm), white, new spines are more yellow. Flowers large, yellow, getting orange with the age, especially in the center of the flower. |
