| Field notes | Solitary palm. Undergrowth palm litter trapping. Stem to 1.5 m tall, mostly obscured by old leaf sheaths, c. 2cm diam., internodes very short, pale grey brown. Leaves c. 20 in crown, to 1.1m long; petiole absent or to 25cm; leaf usually with 2 broad leaflets. Lamina dark green above, pale beneath. Inflorescence elongate; peduncle to 1m; rachillae 6-9, crowded at tip; peduncular bract inserted at tip of peduncle; rachillae brown. Flowers cream, very fragrant. Ripe fruit red, corky. |
