| Field notes | Solitary palm. Stem to 3m, ca. 2cm diam., dull grey below, chocolate to red brown above. Crown of ca. 8 leaves; sheath pale green with scattered brown scales. Leaf to 1m; petiole 20cm; leaflets 22 on each side of the rachis, arranged in 2's and 3's. Inflorescence infrafoliar, branched to 4 orders. Flowers of both sexes at anthesis cherry red, scentless, visited by flies. Young fruit green. |
