| Field notes | Robust clustering rotan climbing to 15 m. Stem without sheaths to 4 cms, with to 8 cms. Internodes generally rather short, to 12 cms. Sheaths very densely covered in reflexed black spines. Pinkish colouration when young, also buff scurfy indumentum. Leaf to 2.5 m, cirrus 1.2 m. Petiole 40 cms or more. Leaflets densely crowded, regular, somewhat pendulous to 50 on each side. Infl. pendulous piptospathe. Not spathe longly persistent. Mature fruit pale straw coloured |
