Rocky valley bottom: light gap in evergreen forest. Clustering ratan climbing to 20 m, without sheaths 2 cm, with 3 cm. Sheaths dull green with whorls or golden spines and caducous reddish indument internodes c. 30 cm. Leaf to 2.75 cm. Petiole very short in exposed parts. Cirrus 1 m. Leaflets c. 20 on each side, rather irregularly arranged, stiff textured.
