Field notes Solitary. The yellow-brown stem is 23 cm long and ca. 3.2 cm in diameter. Nodes close-together. 13 leaves in the crown. The laeves are regularly pinnate with 14-19 pinnae per side. Each pinnae usually with 5-7 prominent veins, but often a few with just a single prominent vein. The veins are alternately prominent above and below, with a rather thin yellow-white tomentum abaxially on the abaxially prominent veins. One of the upper leaves (the one on the sheets): rachis 98 cm long, petiole 26 cm long, sheath ca. 30 cm long. The infructescence is spicate and interfoliar, being inserted in the axil of one of the lowermost living leaves. The fertile part much shorter than the sterile part. The fertile part is orangish-brown with green fruits, while the sterile part is green. 1: infructescence. 2: apical part of blade. 3: mid part of blade. 4: basal part of blade. 5: petiole and sheath.
