| Field notes | Cultivated some 4 m. tall tree, can be much taller (8-10 m. dbh. up to 25 cm.) in secondary forests. Woody with bark in grey patterns slightly furrowed. Leavesheets are purple. Uses: Peeled shoots are cooked and eaten as vegetable. Medicinal, it is good to eat against general weakness of the body. Good as fencingpost as it quickly sprouts again from the cut post. Name in Kelabit language: Tukol. |
