| Field notes | Petiole 1,3 m. long lower part with thorns. 15-20 leaves on one palm. Uses: Fiber, the leaves are used for making mats, hats, raincoats etc. Religious, when the Kelabit people practiced the animistic belief system it was very important that Ilad leaves were present at religious rituals and offerings. Name in Kelabit language: Ilad. |
