| Field notes | Tree some 6 m. tall. Uses: Medicinal, against ringworm and other skindiseases, the white latex is smeared on the affected part of the skin. The wood is light, but strong and is good for carving shields, parang sheats etc. For ceremonial use, at Gawai it is a must that the first dancers shield is carved from Pelai and the hornbill at Gawai Kenyalang is always carved from Pelai. Name in Iban language: Pelai lampung. |
