Field notes Small palm around 4-5 m. tall. fruiting starts in 1.3 m. hight. 4 stands of fruits. Leaves, 1 m petiole altogether 3.5 m leave with 8 leavelets and 6-7 leaflets on each leavelet. Leavelets are subopposite. Uses: The palm shoot is edible as well as the very young inflorescence. A kind of edible worm "Oat labu" is sometimes found in the trunk. The 3th.-4th. leaf sheet may be used as sheet for the rattan knife that are placed on the back of the parang sheet. The powder scrabed from the trunk was in former times used when people wanted to make fire - The powder is good to catch the sparks. Name in Kelabit language: Raimand Belabo/Ubud Labu.
