| Field notes | Tree some 7 m. tall. Smooth reddish-brown bark with circular scars and lenticells. White latex. Uses: Timber tree, for planks. Fire wood. Inner bark used as string for sowing etc., not used any more. Leaves are good to wrap around food - gives flavour to the wrapped food. Name in Kelabit language: Young tree untill 15 cm. dbh. is called "Ajang". Mature trees are called "Kepan". |
