Field notes Big rattan with 2-3 m. long leaves, each leaf with 22-25 pair of leaflets, around 15-30 cm. from leaf base to the first pair of leaflets. Uses: The fibre is used for making baskets, furniture, walking sticks etc. The shoot is edible, but must cool down after cooking, as one get sick from eating it while it is still hot. Name in Iban language: Wee Semamo.
