| Field notes | Stems may be taller than 6 m and leaves longer than 90 cm. Flowers borne on top of 1 -1,30 m tall stems with no leaves present. Mature fruits 3 cm dia. and pale red-orange. Uses: The fruit is eaten - very fresh and sourish, the shoot and the young flowers are eaten raw or cooked as a sidedish or as an aromatic spice. Name in Kelabit language: The name used depends on which part you intend to use.The flower is called Busok Ludu. The fruit is called Buah Salah and the shoot is called Ubud Salah. |
