| Field notes | Slender, erect, single-stemmed with short adventitious prop roots or often suckering with one principal stem. Leaves in a spreading coma, the pinnae in one plane, spreading with slightly drooping tips, dark green above, slightly paler below, the rachis generally green. Stems to 8-12 ft, or perhaps more, ca, 1 l./l in, thick. Spadices interfoliar or infrafoliar through dropping of leaves, erect but in fruit often hanging at the tip. Spathes several, brown. Fruit irregularly globose, orange-red to crimson or orange at maturity |
