| Field notes | Stems solitary, 6 in. to 8 ft. high and then often decumben at the very base. Leaves 12 to 14 or even more in an erect coma, the spadices interfoliar, erect but arching toward the apex with 2 short brown spathes, male flowers white, slightly fragrant, the stamens erect with spreading tips.
