| Field notes | Trees with stout trunks mostly to ca. 6 ft. or less but sometimes much more. Clothed with boots in spite of burning. Leaves erect-arching, pinnae in several planes. Spathes several per crown, yellow or green inside, brown tormentose outside with or without line of spines down back. Spadix with golden-yellow male flowers, green female flowers. Leaves with spiny petioles, hanging in age, in youth pochis brown tomentose and spiny below with long brown-black spines. Pinnae light green, glaucescent below. Fruit variable in size, glabose, yellow to brown with fine covering of minute blue spines.“Coyal redondo” |
