| Field notes | Solitary or perhaps cespitose understory palm. Stem 0.5 m high, 8 cm in diameter, smooth, covered by leafbases; internodes 4 cm long, brown. Base of stem with few visible roots. Leaves 8; sheath 18 cm long, closed; petiole 27 cm long, cross-section round; rachis 51 cm long; lamina pinnate, 70 cm long, 40 cm wide, bushy, glabrous; pinnae sigmoid. Infructescence infrafoliar; prophyll 7 cm long, 1.2 cm wide, papery; peduncular bract 18 cm long, 2.5 cm wide, inserted 2.5 cm from base of peduncle, brown; peduncle 10 cm long, 0.5 cm wide; rachis 1.5 cm long, green to yellow; rachillae 3, 1-3 cm long, green to yellow. Silicagel sample taken. |
