| Field notes | Solitary understory palm. Acaulescent. Stem 4 cm in diameter, rough. Base of stem with few visible roots; roots 50, 7 cm long, 0.2 cm thick, Leaves 10; sheath 14 cm long, open to base; petiole 10 cm long, cross-section with sharp margins; rachis 61 cm long; lamina entire, bifid, 83 cm long, 24 cm wide, flat, glabrous. Infructescence interfoliar; prophyll 17 cm long, 1 cm wide, herbaceous; peduncular bract 27 cm long, 0.9 cm wide, green to brown, herbaceous; peduncle 39-48 cm long, 0.4 cm wide; spike 12-13 cm long, orange. Flowers white, sunken. Infructescence interfoliar. Fruits black, smooth. Silicagel sample taken. |
