| Field notes | Solitary understory palm. Stem 2 m high, 1.3-1.5 cm thick, smooth; internodes 0.5-0.6 cm long, green. Base of stem with few visible roots, 8-10 cm long, 0.2-0.3 cm thick. Leaves 4; sheath 10-12 cm long, closed; petiole 20-30 cm long, cross-section round; rachis 60 cm long; lamina pinnate, 80 cm long, 21 cm wide, flat, glabrous; pinnae 6 per side, sigmoid, regularly inserted. Inflorescence infrafoliar; prophyll woody; peduncular bracts 10-13 cm long, 1 cm wide, herbaceous, inserted 1-8 cm from base of peduncle; peduncle 21 cm long, 0.7 cm wide; rachis 11 cm long, green; rachillae 16, 16-20 cm long, green. Flowers green. Silicagel sample taken. |
