| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Liana. Stem 6 m long; internodes 20 cm long, > stem diameter, smooth. Leaves 20 per stem; sheath 23 cm, closed, with 4 cm long brown spines; petiole 3 cm long, section margined, with 1 cm long brown spines; rachis 40 cm long, with 0.5 cm long black spines; lamina pinnate, 50 cm long, 36 cm wide, flat, glabrous; pinnae 6 per side, insertion regular; basal pinna 15 cm long, middle pinna 18 cm long, apical pinna 17 cm long. Infructescence interfoliar; prophyll 13 cm long, 0.6 cm wide, papery; peduncular bract 24 cm long, inserted 20 cm from base, brown; peduncle 35 cm long, 0.2 cm wide; rachis 7 cm long, 0.1 cm wide.
