| Field notes | Solitary midstory palm. Stem 9.74 m high, 6.5 cm thick; internodes 12 cm long, brown/grey, smooth. Stilt roots 18, 37-47 cm long, 3.5-4 cm wide, with 0.2 cm long spines. Crownshaft present, 70 cm long. Leaves 5 per stem; leaf sheath closed; petiole 36 cm long, section round; rachis 260 cm long; lamina pinnate, 281 cm long, 157 cm wide, flat, glabrous; pinnae 24 per side, insertion regular; basal pinna 29 cm long, middle pinna 86 cm long, apical pinna 25 cm long. Inflorescence infrafoliar; prophyll 3 cm long, 4 cm wide, woody; peduncular bract 30 cm long, brown, woody; peduncle 14 cm long, 1.2 cm wide; rachis 14 cm long, 1.3 cm wide. Flowers cream and fluffy, sessile. Silica gel sample taken. Transect: HB 453, subunit no. 74, outside transect |
