| Field notes | Solitary midstory palm. Stem 8.65 m high, 9 cm thick; internodes 8-13 cm long, green/white/brown, fissured. Stilt roots 17+, 40 cm long, 3 cm wide, with 0.3 cm long spines. Crownshaft present, 102 cm long. Leaves 7 per stem; leaf sheath closed; petiole 83 cm long, section round; rachis 263 cm long; lamina pinnate, 300 cm long, 146 cm wide, flat, glabrous; pinnae 26 per side, insertion regular; basal pinna 42 cm long, middle pinna 78 cm long, apical 40 cm long. Infructescence infrafoliar; prophyll 5.5 cm long, 3.5 cm wide, woody; peduncular bracts, several, 18+ cm long, brown, woody; peduncle 13 cm long, 2 cm wide; rachis 24 cm long, 6 cm wide. Fruits brown, fluffy. Silica gel sample taken from young flowers. Transect: HB 448, subunit no. 54, inside transect |
