| Field notes | Solitary understory palm. Stem 180 cm high, 6 cm thick; internodes 6-8 cm long, with 1-5 cm long spines. Leaves 10 per stem; sheath 14 cm long, closed, spiny; spines 2-4 cm long, brown with black apex; petiole 43 cm long, section round, spiny; spines 3-10 cm long, brown; rachis 140 cm long, spiny; spines 2.5-4 cm long, brown; lamina pinnate, 158 cm long, 59 cm wide, flat, hairy; pinnae 19 per side, inserted in groups of 2-3; basal pinna 16 cm long, middle pinna 24 cm long, apical pinna 17 cm long. Sterile. Silica gel sample taken. Transect: HB 427, subunit no. 2, inside transect |
