| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Stem 2.3 m long, 3 cm thick; internodes 2-6 cm long, brown, smooth. Leaves 5 per stem; sheath 45 cm long, closed, spiny; spines 2-4 cm long, yellow, black at the tip; petiole 80 cm long, spiny; spines 3 cm long, brown; rachis 160 cm long; lamina pinnate, 287 cm long, 60 cm wide, flat, glabrous; pinnae 25 per side, insertion irregular; basal pinna 39 cm long, middle pinna 43 cm long, apical pinna 29 cm long.
