| Field notes | Solitary understory palm. Stem 30 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, covered by leaf bases; internodes 7 cm long, brown. Leaves 9; leaf sheath 22 cm long, open, with 1 cm long, black spines; petiole 87 cm long, section round, with 4 cm long cream-colored spines; rachis 60 cm long, with 4 cm long cream-colored spines; lamina pinnate, 45 cm wide, glabrous; pinnae 12 per side, irregularly inserted; basal pinna 27 cm long, middle pinna 20 cm long, apical pinna 17 cm long. Infructescence interfoliar; peduncular bract brown, woody, with 1 cm long cream-colored spines; peduncle 12 cm long, 0.8 cm wide; rachis 5 cm long, 0.5 cm wide. Fruits 0.8 x 0.8 cm, light green.
