| Field notes | Colonial understory palm. Stem 91 cm long, 1.2 cm thick, smooth, brown; internodes 4.5 cm long. Leaves 7; sheath closed, with black spines to 2 cm long; petiole 33 cm long, section round, with brown spines to 3 cm long; rachis 27 cm long; lamina pinnate, 57 cm long, 21 cm wide, glabrous; pinnae per side 2, 57 cm long.
