Field notes	Solitary midstory palm. Root cone with many roots, 0.1-30 cm long, spiny. Stem 4.5 m long, 5-6 cm thick; internodes short, spiny. Leaves 14 fresh ones and 7 withered; leaf sheath open, splits at base; petiole + sheath 99-114 cm long; petiole section margined; lamina palmate, 116-118 cm in diameter, flat, glabrous. Infructscence interfoliar; prophyll 10 cm long, 3 cm wide, papery; peduncular bracts 3-4, 17 cm long, inserted 4-16 cm from base, brown, papery; peduncle 26 cm long, 1-2 cm wide; rachis 27 cm long, 0.5-1 cm wide; rachillae ca. 25 per rachis, 2-13 cm cm long.
