| Field notes | Liana, cespitose. Stem 570 cm long, 0.7-1.7 cm in diameter; internodes 13 cm long; Number of leaves 40, distributed along the stem; sheath closed, 30 cm long; ocrea 9-11 cm long; petiole 1.5 cm long, margined; rachis 64 cm long; cirrus 14 cm long; sheath, petiole and rachis with spines; lamina pinnate, flat; number of pinnae per side 8-9, more or less regularly inserted, basal pinna 25 cm long, middle pinna 21 cm long, apical pinna 17 cm long. Infructescence interfoliar; prophyll 14 cm long, 2 cm wide, inserted 29 cm from base, papery; peduncular bract 18 cm long, inserted 44 cm from base, woody, brown; peduncle 47 cm long, 0.5 cm thick; rachis 5-7 cm long, 0.4 cm thick; rachillae 7, 7-8 cm long, bract and peduncle with brown spines to 8 cm long. Fruits red. |
