| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Stem 3 m tall, 2 cm in diameter, smooth, green; internodes 11 cm long. Leaf sheath 12 cm long, open; petiole 28 cm long, margined; rachis 50 cm long; lamina pinnate; pinnae per side 2-3, irregularly inserted, in one single plane, basal pinna 62 cm long, middle pinna 50 cm long, apical pinna 57 cm long. Inflorescence interfoliar; prophyll 9 cm long, 2.5 cm wide, papery; peduncular bract 8 cm long, inserted 1 cm from base, brown, papery; peduncle 7 cm long, 0.9 cm wide, orange; rachis 13 cm long, 0.6 cm wide, orange; inflorescence branched to 2nd. order, number of primary rachillae 11, orange. Fruits globose, black. HB transect 389, outside subunit 37. |
