| Field notes | Solitary midstory palm. Stem 10 m tall, 8 cm in diameter, with spines; internodes 4 cm long; base with many roots to 20 cm long. Leaves 12; leaf sheath 20 cm long, open; petiole 30 cm long, margined; rachis 100 cm long; lamina pinnate, bushy; number of pinnae 28 per side, inserted in groups of 3-6, basal pinna 29 cm long, middle pinna 30 cm long, apical pinna 20 cm long; sheath, petiole and rachis with brown spines. Infructescence interfoliar; peduncle 145 cm long, 1.8 cm wide, green; rachis 51 cm long, 0.8 cm wide, green; rachillae 38, 18-34 cm long, green; prophyll, bract and peduncle with black spines. Fruits globose, orange. HB transect no.383, subunit no. 63. |
