| Field notes | Solitary midstory palm. Stem 6 m tall, 5 cm in diameter, with spines; internodes 4 cm long. Leaves 13; leaf sheath 20 cm long, open; petiole 58 cm long, margined; rachis 157 cm long; lamina pinnate, bushy; number of pinnae 31 per side, inserted in groups of 2-7, basal pinna 32 cm long, middle pinna 37 cm long, apical pinna 27 cm long; black spines present on sheath, petiole and rachis. Infructescence interfoliar; prophyll 63 cm long, 7 cm wide; peduncle 178 cm long, 1.8 cm wide; rachis 83 cm long, 1 cm wide, green; rachillae 75, 11-38 cm long, green; prophyll, bract and peduncle with brown-black spines. Fruits green-orange. HB transect no.383, subunit no. 52. |
