| Field notes | Colonial, understory palm. Stem 45 cm long, covered by leaf sheaths. Number of leaves 7; sheath closed, 20 cm long; petiole 65 cm long; rachis 64 cm long; lamina pinnate, bushy; number of pinnae per side 11, inserted in groups of 1-2, basal pinna 26 cm long, middle pinna 33 cm long, apical pinna 23 cm long; sheath, petiole and rachis with brown spines. Inflorescence bud interfoliar; prophyll 13 cm long, 1.6 cm wide; peduncular bract 10 cm long, inserted 7 cm from base, green, with brown spines; peduncle 14.5 cm long, 1 cm in diameter.
