| Field notes | Low, colonial understory palm, acaulescent or with short stem. Sheath 20cm, open; petiole 30cm, green; spines 4cm long, black; rachis 40cm; lamina 57 x 18cm, entire, bifid. Inflorescence interfoliar; prophyll 14cm; peduncular bract 28cm long, brown, spiny; peduncle 22cm long, 0.5cm thick; branched to 1st order; rachillae 2, 5.5cm long; flowers sessile. Transect HB359- way out. |
