| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Stem 2m long, 3cm thick, spines 2cm long, black. Leaves 8 per stem; sheath 26cm, open; petiole 50cm, green; rachis 98cm; lamina 108 x 53cm; pinnae 25 per side; basal 25cm, middle 29cm, apical 16cm. Inflorescence infrafoliar; peduncular bract 35cm, brown, velvet-like texture; peduncle 15cm long, 0.8cm thick; rachis 3cm long, branched to 1st order; rachillae 10, 9cm long, 0.2 thick; flowers sessile.
