| Field notes | Solitary understory palm. Stem 1.8m long, 2cm thick. Leaves 9 per stem; sheath 23cm, open; petiole 59cm, round, green; rachis 47cm; lamina 64 x 50cm; pinnae 6 per side, basal 24cm, middle 20cm, apical 20cm. Inflorescence infrafoliar; prophyll 15cm long, 1.5cm thick; peduncular bract 29cm, brown, lightly spiny with velvety cover, inserted 6cm from the base; peduncle 16cm long, 0.7cm thick; rachis 2cm long, branched to 1st order; rachillae 7, 6cm long, 0.2 thick; flowers sessile.
