| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Stem 1.5m long, 1.2 thick; spines 0.4cm long, black. Leaves 6 per stem; sheath 13cm, closed; petiole 25cm, green; rachis 26cm; lamina 42 x 34cm, hairy below; pinnae 3 per side, basal 25cm, middle 26cm, apical 25cm. Inflorescence infrafoliar; prophyll 4.5cm long; peduncular bract 12cm long, spiny, brown, inserted at the base; peduncle 6cm long, 0.3cm thick, spiny; rachis 0cm, branched to 1st order; rachillae 2, 4.5cm long, 0.2cm thick.
