| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Stem 1.6m long, 6cm thick; spines 2cm long. Leaf spines 7 cm long, black; sheath 50cm, closed; petiole 68cm, round, green; rachis 180cm; lamina 192 x 114cm; pinnae 39 per side, basal 44cm, middle 60cm, apical 30cm. Inflorescence interfoliar; peduncular bract 20cm, woody, spiny, brown, inserted at base; peduncle 8cm long, 2cm thick, spiny; rachis 6cm long, branched to 1st order; rachillae 200, 8cm long, 0.1cm thick; flowers sessile.
