| Field notes | Cespitose palm. Stem 0.8m long, 3cm thick; spines 4.5cm long. Leaves 4 per stem; sheath 22cm, open; petiole 69cm, green; rachis 100cm; lamina 120 x 60cm; pinnae 16 per side, basal 14cm, middle 27cm, apical 25cm. Inflorescence interfoliar; prophyll 17cm long; 2.5cm wide; peduncular bract 27cm, woody, spiny, brown, inserted 8cm from base; peduncle 23cm long, 1cm thick, spiny; rachis 4cm long, branched to 1st order; rachillae 9, 6cm long, 0.2cm thick; flowers sessile.
