Field notes Loose stands w. individuals of different sizes, up to 5 m tall w. stem up to 4 cm diam. Stems w. dense rings of black spines. Lvs 5-6-7 per stem, erect, spreading; sheath and petiole w. heavy yellow, flat spines. Sheath to 40 cm, petiole 90 cm, rachis 180 cm, blade 210x90 cm, largest pinna 68x7 cm, pinnae 18-22 per side in 6 groups, pointing in different directions. Inflorescence interfoliar, peduncular bract spiny. (AAU+AMAZ). Photo DSCN 2331-2339
