| Field notes | Cespitose, stem 3 m tall, 2 cm diam., w. few spines on internodes. Lvs 8 in crown. Sheath, petiole and rachis sparsely covered w. flattened, brown spines, to 5 cm long. Sheath 20 cm; ocrea 13 cm; petiole 17 cm; lamina 74x20 cm; lvs deeply bifid, widest at apex. Peduncle 18 cm, non-spiny; prophyll 16 cm; peduncular bract 20-22 cm, w. few spines at apex, small, flattened; whole peduncular bract w. tiny hairs.
