| Field notes | Cespitose; fruiting stem 5 m long, 5 cm diam., lvs 6-8; sheath 50 cm, petiole 20 cm; lamina 220 x 100 cm with 50 pinnae per side; pinnae regularly arranged and spreading in one plane; infructescence infrafoliar, hippuriform, peduncle 8 cm, rachis 10 cm, rachillae 75, 40 cm long. This is very similar to Oenocarpus mapora, but smaller. All plants in the area were of this small size and the collected specimen was among the larger ones in the population.
