| Field notes | Cespitose with 6 stems, to 20 m tall, all stems w. spines from base to top, with spines to 2 cm; stem 12 diam, grey. Crown of 9 lvs; sheath 110 cm; petiole 50 cm round; blade palmate circular 240 cm across; ca. 80 leaf segments; basal cone of adventitous roots, ca. 1.5 m tall. Common name: "Moretillo".
