| Field notes | Open stand along blackwater creek in swamps, west of Rio Pastaza along Rio Sungachi. Stems 8 m tall, 4 cm diam. very spiny. Lvs. 4 - 8, blade 220 x 130 cm, with 16 - 20 pinnae per side; pinnae inserted in groups of 2 - 4 pinnae, pointing in different directions. |
