Field notes "A rheophyte forming more or less dense stands on the rocks near the river. Stem solitary, 4 m long, 4-6 cm diameter, with short internodes. Leaves 11, the bases erect, the blades spreading horizontally; sheath open to the ground in old leaves; sheath + petiole 45 cm, blade 100x45 cm with 36 pinnae per side. Inflorescence infrafoliar, 50 cm long, peduncle 15 cm, rachis 25 cm, 16 first order branches, 2 x branched, red. Fruits green turning black, globose."
