Field notes "Stem 8 m tall, 12-9 cm in diameter. Leaves 8; sheath 60 cm long, open to the base in old leaves, closed in young ones; petiole 30 cm long; blade 120x60 cm, pinnae strongly grouped 3-8 together, 72 per side, in various planes, curved and twisted giving a curly appearence to the leaf. Infructescences interfoliar, 4, 180 cm long, peduncle 135 cm, rachis 45 cm long; prophyll 24 cm long, bicarinate, open abaxially; bracts 5, reaching the basal branches, brown dry, thin, almost papery; branches 37 of first order; fruits inserted on second order branches, green, slightly warty."
