| Field notes | Stem 2 m long, ascending, 1.8-2 cm thick; internodes 10 cm long basally 2 cm long apically, smooth, green to brown; leaf scars 2-5 mm wide unevenly wide around the stem; crown of 6 leaves with short leafsheaths open to the base, petioles ca. 60 cm long, somewhat flat at the base, rounded close to the lamina; lamina ca. 50 cm long, 40 cm wide; pinnae linear, arranged in one plane, 14-15 per side. Inflorescence 4 and 5 nodes below the leaves, red with whitish furfuraceous cover. 1900 m altitude. |
