| Field notes | Cespitose with 10 stems to 2-4 m tall, 3-4 cm diam., loosely spiny, particularly below the nodes. Lvs. 6, sheath 54 cm, loosely spiny, petiole 35-49 cm, with loose spines to 7 cm long, rachis 129-145 cm long, pinnae 8-13 per side, in groups of 2 (occasionally 1-3), the apical pinnae broadest. Between Santa Rosa and Untsuants. Common in secondary forest and sometimes in pastures along the trail. Only found from just before Santa Rosa and onwards during 4 days of walking between "18 de Febrero" and Untsuants. |
