Field notes Solitary. Stem 6 m tall, up to 12 m tall in other individuals, 18 cm diam, white due to a thin layer of wax, green toward apex, internodes 16-21 cm long, somewhat oblique. Leaves 14, laxly arranged in almost spherical crown; sheath 100 cm long, with brown indument, 10 apical cm appearing loke a petiole, 7.5 cm wide, green; petiole 25 cm long, 6 cm wide at apex, adaxially flattened, slightly concave, green; rachis arched, 185-214 cm long, adaxially flattened for 77-91 cm, green, with brown indumentum in young leaves; pinnae 71-77 on each side, regularly diposed, somewhat erect, whitish below, in young leaves the abaxial indument of pinnae is somewhat brown. Male inflorescences 2 in the same stage, erect; peduncular bracts at least 5, the longest 192 cm long, 27 cm wide, brown; peduncle (almost complete) 104 cm long, 3.5 cm wide at apex, a 6th bract 17 cm long, inserted 36 cm below the rachis base; rachis 67 cm long; rachillae 56, the longest 42 cm long, inserted 14 cm above the rachis base, branched, the last branches of 3rd order; rachis, rachillae and flowers yellowish.
