Field notes Solitary. Stem 7.4 m tall, 6 cm in diam, grey, supported by a cone of stilt roots 70 cm tall, individual roots 2.5 cm in diam, with white prickly warts. Leaves 4, in several planes; sheath 64 - 67 cm long, closed for 50 - 58 cm, the crownshaft 4.5 cm in diam, green, pubescent but with no grooves nor warts; petiole 13.5 - 25 cm long, 2 cm in diam, subterete, glabrous; rachis 82 - 123 cm long; pinnae 28 - 29, regularly arranged in one plane, undivided, pendulous, the longest ones 67 cm. Inflorescence infrafoliar, 1 - 3 per node. Peduncular bracts 5, the two lower cylindrous, the two apical cuculate, up to 36 cm long; rachis 13 - 20 cm long with 20 rachillae, the longest rachillae 30 40 cm long. Fruits almost completely ripe green with ferrugineous pubescence. Duplicates: AAU, QCA, COL: Dupl. 3.
